Hon. Jim McGinty AM
Board Chair

The Hon. Jim McGinty AM was the Member for Fremantle in the State Parliament from 1990 to 2009. During that time he held the positions of Minister for Health, Attorney General and Leader of the Opposition. Post political life, he has served on the boards of several not for profit organisations including Telethon Kids Institute, Brightwater Care Group, Access Housing Australia and Health Workforce Australia. Mr McGinty is a volunteer with Fremantle Sea Rescue.

Professor David Forbes

Deputy Board Chair

Professor Forbes is currently the acting Chief Medical Officer at the Department up to 31 August 2018 after which Professor Forbes will take up his position as Deputy Chair.

He has worked in paediatric emergency medicine, general and rural paediatrics, paediatric gastroenterology and child mental health. From 1991, Professor Forbes has held an academic appointment at the University of Western Australia (UWA). Professor Forbes led both undergraduate teaching in paediatrics for UWA and management of paediatrics vocational training at the Princess Margaret Hospital for Children. Professor Forbes was a member and then Chair of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) Paediatric Physician Training Committee.

Professor Selma Alliex

Professor Alliex is the Pro–Chancellor, Head of Fremantle Campus of Notre Dame. Her area of expertise is nursing education and qualitative research. She has worked in all areas of nursing and has current nursing experience as a Community Health Nurse.

Angela Edwards

Angela Edwards
Board Member

Angela Edwards has an extensive background in human resources, industrial relations, financial management, organisational development and stakeholder management. She is currently Human Resources Director Asia Pacific, CHC Helicopter Australia. She formerly held the position of General Manager – Human Resources, Burswood Entertainment Complex (now Crown Perth). She is also a board member of not for profit cancer support group, Blue Dot Army.

Assoc. Professor Christopher Etherton-Beer

Assoc. Professor Christopher Etherton-Beer
Board Member

Assoc. Professor Etherton-Beer is a Clinical Academic in Geriatric Medicine at UWA and Medical Co-director at Royal Perth Hospital. He is Chair of the WA Therapeutics Advisory Group and is a member of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee.

He is also an Elected Member of the Federal Council of Australian and New Zealand Society for Geriatric Medicine and was Chair of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians Specialty Training Committee in Geriatric Medicine, 2013 to 2016.

Dr Hilary Fine

Dr Fine has been a GP in urban and rural General Practice for over 30 years. She is currently Principal GP and Medical Director at East Fremantle Medical Centre and Adjunct Associate Professor at Notre Dame University. She has held Director and Chairperson Positions on the Boards of Local, State and National not-for-profit Primary Care Organisations together with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and External Advisory Board, Notre Dame.

Ms Carol Innes

Ms Carol Innes

Ms Innes is the Manager, Aboriginal Cultural Heritage & Arts at the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority. She is currently the Aboriginal Co-Chair of Reconciliation WA and is a former director of the Leadership Unit at the South West Aboriginal Land and Sea Council. She worked in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts sector for 11 years with experience in the government sector at both State and Federal levels.

Mr Grant Robinson

Mr Grant Robinson

Mr Robinson is a non-executive director, chartered accountant and auditor. He is a former partner of KPMG (Audit). Mr Robinson is currently the Deputy Chair and Audit Committee Member, Botanical Gardens and Parks Authority and Board Member and Audit Committee Chair, Perth Festival and will be filling the role of Deputy Chair for the NMHS Board from 1 July – 31 August 2018.

Ms Rebecca Strom

Ms Strom is a principal at LSV Borrello Lawyers. She is currently a non-executive director of Access Housing Australia and is the Chair of the Governance Committee. Ms Strom is also a member of the Executive Finance and Property Committee of the WA Planning Commission.

Steve Toutountzis

Steve Toutountzis
Board Member

Steve Toutountzis is a certified practising accountant and has an extensive background in finance, procurement, public sector service delivery and policy at an executive and strategic level. In his former role of Director, Performance and Evaluation – Group 1, Department of Treasury, his responsibilities included analysis and strategic advice to the Western Australian government on budgetary and financial management issues impacting a range of portfolios including Health. He is currently a member of the Board of Commissioners, Legal Aid Western Australia.
