The Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre (QEIIMC) is more commonly referred to as the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH), as the Hospital is the largest tenant on the site.
Soon, Western Australians will recognise the QEIIMC as a one of the Perth’s largest medical, research and education facilities.
Stage I of the QEIIMC redevelopment is due for completion in 2015 and includes the construction of a New Children’s Hospital, a Western Australian Institute for Medical Research facility, PathWest facility, an expanded SCGH Cancer Centre and a new Mental Health Unit.
A new Central Energy Plant and a multi-deck car park will be built to support the expansion of the site.
With almost 40 tenants located at the QEIIMC site, some existing services and facilities will be relocated to facilitate the QEIIMC transformation.
Some disruptions to site users and to the local community are expected due to this major capital works program, which is part of the State’s $5 billion investment in health care building projects over the next four years.
Every effort is being made to minimise disruptions and keep you up to date with the latest information.
