New initiative to support children with rare condition 24 May 2024 A state-of-the-art diagnostic tool has arrived in Western Australia to help more children be tested for rare conditions, thanks to an initiative led by Genetic Health WA and Pathwest. -

Highly-respected Respiratory Nurse Practitioner Sue Morey was added to the Lifetime Achievement Honour Roll for her incredible contribution to respiratory medicine to the community. Talking about consent and sexual assault matters, and it can help to raise awareness and prevent sexual violence. Staff at the Sexual Assault Resource Centre (SARC) can provide support and help make a difference to survivors of sexual assault across WA. If you live with past trauma, it is recognised that healthcare appointments may be difficult. Your wellbeing is very important, and you can have a say in how you would like to be treated by a healthcare provider. SARC has developed a Sensitive Practice Request Form to help you have a say in things that will get you through your healthcare appointment. Brotherly love – Live kidney donation 14 March 2024 A Goldfields truck driver has provided the ultimate act of love by donating a kidney to his brother. It was a routine blood test that unveiled Kim Gooding's kidneys were not working well, and he had chronic kidney disease. The father of two boy's health deteriorated quickly after the diagnosis, and he underwent regular dialysis at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital's Renal Unit. However, with little improvement it became obvious he would need a kidney transplant. For around 1,800 Australians currently on the organ transplant waitlist, it can be a matter of life and death. There are an additional 14,000 people on dialysis, some of whom may benefit from a kidney transplant. Kim's older brother Andrew said, we never had a conversation about it, I just went and got tested and I was a match.
