Allied Health Professionals at NMHS 12 October 2022 Friday 14 October is Allied Health Professionals Day, which gives us a great opportunity to recognise the fantastic work done by this wide and varied group of care providers at NMHS. Allied health professionals (AHPs) play a vital role in delivering diagnostic, technical, therapeutic and direct health services for people of all ages including children, older people, people with chronic illnesses and those experiencing disability. Australia has over 200,000 AHPs delivering more than 200 million health services annually to improve the health and wellbeing of the consumers they support. Kambarang season is here 05 October 2022 The earthly surface of the Noongar region is now fully alive and dense with the pageant of Kambarang flowers reflecting the starlit evenings of the dazzling galaxy above. Warm bright days and intense jewel-toned sunsets of ruby, sapphire and citrine lure us outside like siren songs and gently lift our chins to kiss the sun. Running from October to November, Kambarang is the season of transformation, birth and wildflowers symbolised by the colour yellow for the radiance of the sun and the hot weather to come. A full palette of colour is on display but yellow is the hero with delicate golden wattle (acacia), timid ochre orchids and kangaroo paws, and lofty banksias standing haughtily against a back drop of balga trees which continue to bloom (especially if they met with last year’s fire). New Sustainability Leaders program and our first award winner! 03 October 2022 The program Our innovative team in the Climate and Sustainability program have launched their latest initiative to green our services called ‘Sustainability Leaders’. So far over 147 staff members have joined the program! One element of the initiative known as ‘Champions Corner’ is to identify a passionate staff member working hard on sustainability and climate initiatives and award them the title of ‘Sustainability Leader of the Month’. ABC News features CECAT 13 September 2022 The amazing team at the Creative Centre for Expression and Arts Therapy is doing wonderful, innovative work with our mental health clients by helping them in their recovery through the use of creative therapy, including music. Our Occupational Therapists have created a music studio at Graylands Hospital where clients can bring their words and musical concepts and transform them into complete songs with their support. Message from the Chief Executive 09 September 2022 We are saddened to learn of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II overnight. Her devotion to country was exemplified by her care and integrity, and a lifetime of service leading the Commonwealth and her country through significant change.
