Centre for Clinical Interventions – tools to help through tough times 18 January 2022 As Western Australians we have experienced something unique in the world for the last two years: the protection of a forcefield bordered by ocean, desert and sky that has kept a wily villain at bay. But the flipside to the relative comfort we have enjoyed is that we have watched the enemy advance on surrounding territories, all the while building an anticipation of what It will be like when the forcefield is breached. With our borders opening in February, it seems our mettle will be tested. It’s important to remember in these moments that there are resources at hand – tools for our armoury. In addition to full vaccination and the physical practices that we are regularly reminded of such as mask-wearing, hand hygiene and physical distancing, we also have to bolster our mental preparedness. This year the theme was R.E.S.P.E.C.T and the NMHS contingent walked as queer, trans, intersex and ally healthcare professionals, encouraging all communities to respect and love themselves. “It was great to see and be part of such an inclusive family event that was supported by not only NMHS, but all other HSPs,” said Jodi Graham, Executive Director, Women and Newborns Health Service & Pride participant. “I’m proud to be part of a health service that is committed to supporting a collaborative and inclusive workplace culture that values the diversity of our people and patients.” For the Pride Parade organising committee, it meant ...

Celebrating our dedicated staff! 10 November 2021 Congratulations to Michelle Osler who was today named as our North Metro Corporate Employee of the Quarter. Private Patient Liaison Officer in the Finance TeamPrivate Patient Liaison Officer in the Finance Team, based at OPH. Michelle was nominated for this award by Justine Huggins, a midwife Manager at WNHS and it is especially fantastic to be acknowledged outside of the Division. Justine noticed that Michelle saw some cracks in the system for patients who were ineligible for Medicare and worked with the team to find solutions. These women were being disadvantaged financially for some outpatient services such as lactation consultancy, so Michelle gave them private external health care provider details, so they had options to choose from. It means they could plan their postnatal care after their hospital discharge with significantly less out of pocket charges than the public system. Thi...
