MHPHDS congratulates Jupp - 2020 Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards 17 June 2021 The 2020 WA Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards were held at the Grand Ballroom, Crown Perth on 15 May 2021. The Awards recognise and celebrate the work and achievements of nurses and midwives across Western Australia. This year, Mental Health, Public Health and Dental Services (MHPHDS) sponsored the 2020 Consumer Appreciation Award - an opportunity for a consumer (patient, client or patient and client's support person) to nominate and give recognition and thanks to the nurse or midwife who cared for them. Marianne Slattery, Director of Nursing was in attendance on the night, presenting the 2020 Consumer Appreciation Award to winner - Jupp Groenveld, nurse for St John of God Social Outreach - Subiaco. Shiftmatch Cohort Model - Congrats Naomi Parkins! 11 June 2021 Congratulations to Naomi Parkins, SCGOPHCG Nurse Manager, Patient Flow Unit, for presenting her Innovative Future project at the 10th International Congress on Innovations in Nursing (external site) in May 2021. Naomi, along with Michael Stuart and Keren Smith applied to the Innovative Future (IF) program in round one, to address the problems they were experiencing with managing casual staff shifts. The booking system at the time was administrative intensive, had a high risk of error, and was fraught with inconsistencies across different areas. To improve the process, a system needed to be implemented that was transparent, dynamic, efficient, user friendly, consistent, and allowed ease of communication. Congratulations to clinical nurse specialist Elaine - our 'Djeran' winner of the NMHS Mental Health, Public Health, Dental Services Employee of the Season! Elaine forms part of the senior nursing team at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital mental health service. You may remember Elaine's colleague Priscilla won the Employee of Bunuru (last season's award). Two wins in a row for SCGH mental health unit is a testament to the integrity and strength of our mental health nurses. Graduate Midwife of the Year 21 May 2021 Congratulations to NMHS team member and KEMH Midwife Lisa Burt for winning the Graduate Midwife of the Year award at the WA Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards (external site) Gala Ball on Saturday night at Crown Perth. Lisa was recognised for being a self-motivated, optimistic graduate committed to fostering a positive, productive workplace culture.
