    Profile on NMHS Board member Angela Komninos 03 July 2026 Introducing Board member Angela Komninos who is also Deputy State Solicitor. With a wealth of experience, Angela joined the Board as part of her passion for improving healthcare outcomes in Western Australia. The daughter of migrant parents, Angela Komninos finished school unsure what career path to pursue. Initially choosing architecture, Angela swapped to science, then commerce and finally found her calling in law. Angela now has 30 years’ experience as a commercial lawyer and is the Deputy State Solicitor (Commercial) at the State Solicitor’s Office.     Celebrating our dedicated staff 23 October 2023 Congratulations to Travis Walker, Financial and Business Officer in the Revenue and Accounts Receivable team, who has been awarded the NMHS Corporate Employee of the Quarter award. Travis was nominated for his ability to drive innovation within his team. He has been instrumental in the development of a new model that allows the Revenue and Accounts Receivable team to access relevant information at the click of a button. This new model has driven performance and helped identify key areas of focus. Travis has also developed a model that provides real time WebPAS data to drive private patient conversions. So far it has led to a 20 per cent increase in private patient conversions.     Congratulations WA Mental Health Awards finalist Ronnie Deng 17 October 2023 The finalists for this year's WA Mental Health Awards have been announced, recognising Ronnie Deng in the category Lived Experience Impact and Inspiration Award. He was nominated by advocacy group Mental Health Matters 2 for his local and national contributions as a carer, mentor and voice helping the community understand and navigate the mental health care system. Ronnie immigrated from Singapore in 1976 and has been involved with mental health for more than 30 years. He has worked on a casual basis with the North Metropolitan Health Service, specifically Graylands Hospital since 2016 as carer representative and Lived Experience Consultant. Ronnie became involved after his wife was admitted to Graylands Hospital and he struggled to understand what was happening and how he could help.   • Volunteers required for the Emergency Department 11 October 2023 Do you know someone interested in emergency health care and looking to gain exposure within a dynamic hospital environment? We are looking for volunteers to play a key role in assisting patients and families or carers within the Emergency Department at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital. Volunteers will direct patients to the triage area and act as the key facilitator between families or carers and triage staff. They will provide general support within the Emergency Department and provide patient updates to waiting family members or carers. Volunteers will liaise with nursing and administrative staff to escort families or carers to the correct patient once triaging is complete.     Congratulations to our WA Nursing and Midwifery Awards (WANMEA) winners 09 October 2023 We're extremely proud to announce our 2023 WA Nursing and Midwifery Awards (WANMEA) winners: Sandra Vinciguerra, Jodie Atkinson and Dr Zoe Bradfield. Sandra Vinciguerra was the winner of the highly prestigious Nurse of the Year award as well as the Excellence in Primary, Public and Community Care award. Sandra's outstanding work as part of the COVID-19 Vaccination Program at North Metropolitan Health Service contributed significantly to the WA health system's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Sandra has broken down barriers to vaccination ensuring her clients are informed of the risks and benefits and delivers the vaccine in a safe and non-threatening environment.
