National Pharmacy Technician Day 18 October 2022 October 18 is National Pharmacy Technician Day and we are celebrating the vital role they play in our service. Pharmacy technicians are integral to Australia’s hospital pharmacy workforce, they are the backbone of Pharmacy. Hospital pharmacy technicians work collaboratively with pharmacists to ensure our patients receive their medications in a safe and timely manner. A wedding in the Rose Garden at Charlie's 18 October 2022 Almost a week has passed since its glorious happening but this gorgeous story is still giving us life. David and Emma had planned their wedding for 5 November at a coastal location but David’s dad became unwell and was admitted to Sir Charles Gairdner’s Intensive Care Unit a few weeks ago. With the possibility that he may not be able to attend the November celebrations, David and Emma decided to make it official a bit sooner and marry in the Rose Garden at Charlie’s so David’s dad could be there. But this was no small feat. Six of our devoted and empathetic nurses prepared David’s dad for the occasion, getting him dressed in a shirt and tie and preparing him to be safe and comfortable for the ceremony. Allied Health Professionals at NMHS 12 October 2022 Friday 14 October is Allied Health Professionals Day, which gives us a great opportunity to recognise the fantastic work done by this wide and varied group of care providers at NMHS. Allied health professionals (AHPs) play a vital role in delivering diagnostic, technical, therapeutic and direct health services for people of all ages including children, older people, people with chronic illnesses and those experiencing disability. Australia has over 200,000 AHPs delivering more than 200 million health services annually to improve the health and wellbeing of the consumers they support. Kambarang season is here 05 October 2022 The earthly surface of the Noongar region is now fully alive and dense with the pageant of Kambarang flowers reflecting the starlit evenings of the dazzling galaxy above. Warm bright days and intense jewel-toned sunsets of ruby, sapphire and citrine lure us outside like siren songs and gently lift our chins to kiss the sun. Running from October to November, Kambarang is the season of transformation, birth and wildflowers symbolised by the colour yellow for the radiance of the sun and the hot weather to come. A full palette of colour is on display but yellow is the hero with delicate golden wattle (acacia), timid ochre orchids and kangaroo paws, and lofty banksias standing haughtily against a back drop of balga trees which continue to bloom (especially if they met with last year’s fire).
